This morning I got a call at 5:50 from Aubrey. He was letting me know that he wouldn't be going for our regular 6:00 a.m. swim. I said ok, but I was still going. After all, I already had my swimsuit on, so it would have been silly to take it off at that point and get back in bed, no matter how appealing that sounded. I got to the pool a few minutes after 6. I was the first lap swimmer and actually ended up being the only 6 a.m. lap swimmer. However, I wasn't alone. There were 4 older ladies doing water aerobics. The instructor had a microphone which was entertaining. Along with that, there was the obligatory aerobics music in the background. For the most part I ignored the goings on in the other part of the pool and kept myself focused on swimming my mile. I think it was around my eighth lap when I heard a familiar song playing. I got to the end of the pool, listened for a minute, and then realized it was none other than New Kids on the Block's ditty "Step by Step". How great is that? I mean, these old ladies doing water aerobics to NKOTB. Just when I thought no one listened to Joe, Jordan, and umm, all the others...I guess if nothing else, it gave me a good laugh. I did finish my mile this morning--all 32 laps. It feels great to swim again.
So last night I watched the Mavericks get annihilated by Phoenix. It was pretty depressing. The worst part was when Dirk got hurt. I think I had sympathy pains. (but that could have been from the pepper juice in my eye-I'm not sure.) Poor guy...He's so great. If you want to see how I really feel about Dirk, you can read what I wrote when they lost to the Kings last year in the playoffs:
Ok, so I was really depressed when I went to bed last night. The Dallas Mavericks lost to the Kings. Those of you who aren't into basketball wouldn't understand, but this is a huge deal. They are now officially out of the playoffs. That also means I can't watch Dirk until next season--enormous tragedy in and of itself.
Anyhow, I'm not giving up hope yet, even if the Suns are the #1 seed. Dallas just needs to go back home and win there, and then win the last game. It can happen, right?
